The Interview Is Where You Get The Job. Here’s How You Can Be Confident Every Time.

Attending a job interview can be stressful for many people but it doesn’t need to be. You are being interviewed because the interviewer wants to hire the best person for the role – not because they want to trip you up or embarrass you.
During the interview the interviewer will be searching out your strong and weak points, evaluating you on your qualifications, skills and intellectual qualities. They will probably probe deeply to determine your attitudes, aptitudes, stability, motivation and maturity.
By following the tips below you’ll be prepared and confident.

Top 10 Tips for a successful interview

1) Know where you’re going, who you’re meeting and arrive a few minutes early.
2) Do your research. Learn a bit about the organization and have a couple of questions ready to ask at the appropriate time.
3) Greet the interviewer using their name, shake hands firmly and look them in the eye. Sit upright, looking alert and interested at all times. Be a good listener as well as a good talker. SMILE.Do your research. Learn a bit about the organization and have a couple of questions ready to ask at the appropriate time.
4) Follow the interviewer’s leads. Encourage them to describe the position and the duties to you early in the interview so you can relate your background and skills to the position.
5) Make sure you get your good points across. Keep in mind that you alone can sell yourself. Make the interviewer realise they need you in their organisation.
6) Be prepared to answer typical questions such as:
Why are you interested in the role?
What are your strengths?
What are your weaknesses? What are you doing about addressing them?
What do you know about our company?
Why did you choose your particular career?
What are your qualifications?
Have a couple of situations from previous roles that demonstrate capabilities and achievements relevant to the role you are applying for.
7) NEVER make derogatory remarks about your present or former employers.
8) Try not to over-answer questions. It’s best to answer the questions honestly, trying not to say more than necessary.
9) DON’T inquire about salary, holidays, bonuses etc at the initial interview. If using a recruitment agency and the employer raises these, ask them to discuss details with your Frontier Recruitment Consultant.
10) Always conduct yourself as if you are determined to get the job. Never close the door on an opportunity. It’s better to be in a position where you can choose from a number of jobs rather than only one.
